Meeting Friends

Picture of the Week: Go Pokes!

Brianna's now 2 weeks old and its been a busy week for our family. She's met lots of new friends and been spoiled by Grandma & Grandpa Petrik, who have been visiting this week to help Justin and I out. Its amazing how much she's changed in just a week. We've started to notice that her eyes are now a lighter shade of blue and she's trying to focus on objects that are close to her. She's desperately trying to lift her head up when she's on her tummy and succeeded this week at picking it up and laying it down on the other side a few times. It amazes us both just how much she changes and grows from day to day.

We also had our 2 week doctor's appointment and she's up to 8 pounds, 4 ounces (yeah!) and has grown a quarter of an inch, for a new length of 21 1/4 inches. That puts her in the 75 percentile on the growth charts for weight and height. Everything else checked out well and we don't have to take her back till she's 2 months old, which is when she'll get her next round of shots. I'm not looking forward to that doctor's visit at all.

Also, thank you to Aunt Ashley and Uncle Scott for her first Oklahoma State gear. The pink hat, a pair of pink booties and a matched set of an OSU wipes case and burp rag for the diaper bag are all courtesy of them. Its never to early to get her started cheering for her future college!

Here's a few pictures of Brianna with the new friends she made this week.

Blake, Roni, Averi, Aspen and Knight Durham:

Jenny and Kris Keele:

Christy Monnette:

April, Jeff and Presley Parker:

She also met our friends Cameron & Karen Gawley, AP and Geoff Tobey but I forgot to get out the camera (I know ... shame on me) so I don't have any pictures to share of them. The next time they visit, I'll be sure to snap a few.

This week was also the trip to the photographer's for newborn photos. Once we have a link to the proof gallery, we'll share it so that everyone can see her pictures. I'm anxious to see how they turned out since we had some pretty creative shots. Justin had the idea to pull one of the tires off the Jeep and take with us so we've got some great shots of her sleeping on top of a 39 inch jeep tire all wrapped up in her camouflage blanket. I have a feeling that's going to be one of her daddy's favorites!

That's it for this week ... love you all!

My First Week!

Hey world, its me, Brianna ... and yes, I'm finally here! My apologies for keeping mommy from the computer for so long but she's been busy taking care of me. I just wanted to pop in and say hi before I go take another wonderful nap in my nursery. I must say, daddy & Aunt Ashley did a great job and I love the cozy bed and the bees on the walls. I have to say, the rocker's my favorite place though, especially when mommy's got me all cuddled up with her and we're snoozing together! Anyway (yawn) off I go to sleep ... bye bye.
----------------------------------------
Brianna's one week old today and its gone by so fast. Its hard to believe and I know that time will not slow down anytime soon so Justin and I have been savoring all the precious moments with her. Its been wonderful for the two of us to have this time home with her and we've enjoyed every moment. As you can imagine, its been a week of firsts for us and her so I thought I'd highlight a few of them for you all and share some pictures. I hope you enjoy!

First, the stats:
Birthday: February 4, 2009 @ 9:55 pm
Length: 21 inches
Weight: 7 pounds, 6 ounces

We also had our newborn checkup this week. She lost 6 ounces in the hospital but has regained 2 ounces since coming home. She got her first shot and only cried for 30 seconds or so, which made Justin and I feel much better. We hated the fact that she had to be stuck in the first place.

Here's some pictures of the new baby with mom and daddy. We also were able to snap a few pictures of her in the newborn nursery getting warmed up and checked over.

Of course, the most important "first" after meeting us was to meet the grandparents. Here she is with first my parents and then with Justin's.

Our stay at the hospital was great. The staff was very friendly and helpful but we couldn't wait to bring her home. Here's a few pics of daddy getting her settled in her car seat the first time and of course, the coming home outfit.

She's also met her Aunt Ashley and Uncle Scott, as well as her Aunt Amanda, Uncle Josh and cousins Bethany and Addisyn. Unfortunately, she met Amanda and her family just after being born and I don't have any pictures of them together. As soon as they are able to come visit again, I'll make sure to remedy that.

She also had her first bath this week, which wasn't as scary of an event for me as I expected. The whole idea of trying to hold on to a slippery baby was a little bit daunting but we made it.

And here's my favorite picture of the week. After the first night home, which was really rough seeing as she didn't go to sleep till 4 am, she's been a good sleeper every night. Sleeping babies are wonderful things!

That's it for this week.
Love you all,
Lucretia
