Rough Week

Yep, you read the title right.  Its been a rough week in the Nesbitt household.  Brianna went to the doctor Tuesday because she just wasn't able to get rid of this nasal congestion she's had for the last 2 weeks.  She was starting to wake up at night crying, not wanting to lay her head to the side and I thought for sure it was an ear infection.  Well, thankfully, her ears were "gorgeous" as Dr. David put it.  But, he did prescribe an antibiotic to treat her for a minor sinus infection.  So, that was the easy part.  Then, while I was in Minneapolis Thursday, she started running a low grade fever at daycare, which meant Justin had to leave work to get her.  She ran a temp all evening Thursday night, which wasn't fun for any of us.  To top it off, she's started waking up at 1:00 am every morning for the last 4 nights.  Its like an alarm clock goes off in her head and she wakes up screaming.  On two occasions, the only thing that stopped the screaming, other than feeding her, was to let her sit up and play.  That's all she wanted so for two hours, we all three sat on the living room floor.  Justin and I tried to keep each other awake and she played happily till, at 3 am, we finally put her back in her crib, where she cried for all of a minute and was fast asleep.  We neither one have any idea where our easy sleeper went this week, but we sure hope she comes back soon.

Needless to say, we're all exhausted.  I'm hoping this is all related to teething since her gums are starting to bother her again.  Maybe this time, those little buggers will actually break through and she'll feel better.  In the mean time, I'm back to going to bed early and napping whenever possible because I'm not getting much sleep at night.  Thankfully, it only took an 1.5 hours last night to get her settled back asleep so maybe tonight will be better.  Despite all the not sleeping drama, she's still a very happy baby during the day and wants to help mama do everything, including balance the checkbook.  I think its just that she wants to see how much money's left so she can go shopping!

Uh Oh ... error message ... I didn't do it!

Pumpkin Patch!

This weekend, the weather was finally nice enough to take Brianna to the pumpkin patch so we got up Saturday morning, dressed her all cute and headed out. It was still muddy but we had a lot of fun anyway! Of course, we took a lot of pictures!

Can I touch it?

What's this thing mommy sat me next to?

Oh!  I can smack it!

Family Picture Time

There's pumpkins everywhere!!

Sitting in the middle of all the pumpkins

I've got my pumpkin ... now make this wagon go!

She's also started balancing on her toes or on one knee and a toe.  Tonight, I finally had the camera close enough to get a picture of her doing this.  I don't see how she balances like this, but she does.

Of course, this story wouldn't be complete without showing the angle that includes what's she's looking at so intently.

I have a feeling its not going to be too much longer before I'm spending a lot of time keeping Moab's toys and Brianna's toys separated from each other.  She has a very cool toy called a Baba Ball on the way from Amazon so maybe once she gets a ball of her own, she won't be so interested in Moab's.  Who am I kidding though ... these two are inseparable!  I imagine there will be a lot of chasing each other's toys while I chase them both to keep his toys from ending up in her mouth (yucky!).

Love you all!

Hilarious video of Brianna and Justin making "pfft" noises back and forth to each other! I had the hardest time not laughing out loud while I was recording this ... enjoy!

Shameless Plug for a Girlfriend!

After a long time of searching, a very good friend of mine has found her entrepreneurial calling and I'm very happy, and proud, to support her.  She has spent the last several months designing Christian-themed handbags and backpacks and officially launched her site, Disciple by Design, today!  Please visit her at http://www.disciplebydesign.com/ and check out what she's got to offer.  For those of you with kiddos, she's got really cute backpacks ... one just for girls and another just for boys.

Best of luck Angela!

Rainy Weekend Snuggles

Yep, that's right ... it was another rainy weekend and here's a picture of how Brianna and I chose to spend it every chance we could!  Its a little grainy since I took it with my phone but still, isn't she just the sweetest thing all snuggled up on mommy's shoulder!

Neither of us really felt that well since we've both been fighting off colds for the last week.  She took extra long naps all weekend so I'm guessing that's exactly what she needed.  We were going to take her to the pumpkin patch Sunday but the weather didn't cooperate.  Hopefully, next weekend will be better since I can't wait to get pictures of her with all the pumpkins for her first Halloween!

Here's a quick list of what else she's been up to lately:
- Recognizing Baby Signs: She's starting to wave bye-bye occasionally and seems to recognize the signs for kitty, puppy, light, more and eat on a regular basis.  I'm assuming the big smile and/or looking in the direction of Cleo or Moab is recognition.  She's actually make the sign for light, but not actively.  Her hand is down by her side and its seems like her fingers are moving on their own, not in actual recognition of what she's doing.

- First Word: Yep, you read it right.  She had her first word last Tuesday, though I didn't get to hear it till Thursday.  It was "Hi".  She says Hi to almost everyone that walks in the room at daycare now, when she's in the mood to talk that is.  She was being shy on Thursday, but we finally got her to say a very quiet Hi to mommy when I picked her up.

- Sitting Up: She's able to push herself up to sitting when she's lying on her tummy now, though this has only happened at daycare so far.  That could be because I'm so busy on weekends playing with and loving on her that I don't give her much tummy time ... oh well!

- Scooting: She's much more interested in scooting herself everywhere than crawling but I imgaine it won't be too much longer.  She puts her legs out completely straight, then digs her heals in and pulls herself toward her feet.  Those are some strong little legs to pull her entire body weight without help!  I know I couldn't do that ... I tried!  She'll pull to standing if you give her something to grab on to, like fingers, so she simply may not be much of a crawler.

- Singing: She "sings" to herself when she's in her carseat or in her crib and falling asleep.  Its this cooing kind of sound that changes in pitch and it almost has a rhythm to it (seriously, not making it up!).  I can tell when she's almost asleep because it gets slower and slower and then just stops and she's out.

- She's in size 12 month clothes now because she's too tall for the 9 month size.  I have to buy the elastic waist pants though or they just fall off her.  She's up to size 2-3 diapers.  Some of her favorite foods seem to be Carrot Tomato, Apples & Apricots and Apple Butternut Squash.  She seems to have an aversion to socks though.  Not only does she pull hers off every chance she gets, but Miss Rose informed me she also pulls off the other babies' socks!  I had a long conversation with her this weekend about not pulling off socks but seeing as we weren't  two minutes away from the house and hers were already off, I don't think it worked.  She was laughing at herself though so I think she was telling me that she's going to do her own thing when it comes to this particular subject.

I guess that's it for now ... lunch break's over so time to get back to work!
