Oklahoma Vacation!

Wow, there's a lot to update everyone on.  We've spent the last week in Oklahoma visiting all our family and letting everyone spoil Brianna.  It was a long week, but a good one.  The last time Justin and I had this much time together without work interrupting was when he took a week off when she was born.  Needless to say, there was a lot of relaxing, hanging out, spoiling and picture taking going on.

Here's a few of the new things Bree's started doing:
1) clapping her hands / patty-cake - Grandma Petrik was the first to get her to do this and now, she does it all the time, usually with a big grin on her face.
2) Giving kisses - she started doing this in the last week, usually after she's been given lots of kisses.  They're all slobber but hey, who really cares right?
3) Mommy phase - oh yes, she's all about Mommy right now.  She'll interact with anyone, as long as I'm holding her.  If I give her to someone else, she's not happy about it.  She's a little snuggle bug with me right now too.  I'll be holding her and she'll just lay her head on my shoulder, grab my t-shirt and look up at me with a smile.  It just makes my heart melt.

Now, on to the pictures!  I'll try not to post an abundance of them but there's a lot to share!

Bethany and Addisyn were fascinated by Brianna and wanted to help feed her, change her, play with her ... basically anything they could do that involved her in some way!  It was so cute to watch all three of them interact.  Brianna often had this look of "how'd they do that?".

Pops and his girls!

So big!

Playing with Great-Grandpa Petrik's hat

First Mohawk ... thank you Daddy!

Posing with Moab in the dress Aunt Ashley brought back from Puerta Vallarta

Farm Girls!  We had to get pics of Brianna with my dad's tractor!

Sleeping Baby ... all worn out from playing!

Like I said, it was a really good visit and lots of fun to see everyone playing with her.  We miss Nana, Pops, Grandma, Grandpa and the aunts, uncles and cousins and can't wait to see everyone again.  I've got to get a picture of Bree in the pink OSU romper my mom made for her.  Its going to be perfect for those days of watching football with mommy and daddy this fall!

Love you all...

7 Month Pictures

Well, with vacation (which will be a separate post) and travel, its been awhile since I've posted anything.  I had Brianna's 7 month pictures taken two weeks ago and picked them up yesterday.  They came in while we were in Oklahoma so that's the reason for the delay in getting them posted.  I have to say, I think these are the cutest ones to date!  Justin picked this outfit out for her when she was only a few weeks old and we've been waiting for fall to get her pictures taken in it.  I'm so happy with how they turned out...hope you enjoy them as well!

I have to say, I think I've got an adorable little girl!  I know, I know, I'm biased but regardless, she's pretty darn cute as both her grandma's say!

Funny Stories

So, here's a couple funny / cute stories about Brianna from the last few days that I just had to share.

1) When I picked her up from daycare Friday, she needed a diaper change.  While taking care of that, she pulled a Kleenex out of the box by the changing table and proceeded to tear it up.  I was trying to get her cleaned up so we can go see Justin and didn't get it taken away from her before it was in pieces.  So, when I finally did try to take it away from her, she looked at me with this look that said "how dare you", stuck one of the pieces in her mouth and clamped her little lips tight so I couldn't get it out.  Then, she swallowed it and grinned up at me, so proud of what she'd done.  I have a feeling she's going to be a mischievous little thing as she gets older!
2) She's started rocking up on all fours and succeeded at getting up on her knees Friday.  I wasn't there to see it since it happened at daycare, but apparently, she looked at Miss Donna as if to say "okay, now what?".  I guess its time to start baby-proofing.  She already loves to move around, kick her legs and is basically never still for very long.  Once she's crawling, heaven help me!
3) Speaking of moving, she's still very happy about her jumparoo, so much so that she forgot to tell us this morning that she was getting sleepy.  Justin and I were sitting on the couch, paying bills, when we realized that it had suddenly gotten very quiet.  Here's why...

Our little sweetheart went from jumping like crazy to sound asleep in just a matter of seconds it seemed.  When Justin woke her up to put her in her crib, she immediately started jumping again, despite the fact that her little eyes were still half closed.  Such a sweet little baby girl!

"Talking"

Okay, as I said last time, Brianna's starting to make more actual sounds instead of just coos and babbles.  Well, today she's been talking non-stop and I was finally able to get a really cute vido of it so I just had to post it.  She also tried a sippy cup for the second time and did so much better with it.  She actually figured out very quickly how to hold the cup and lift it with both hands.  She started out just chewing on it, but soon figured out that if she sucked on it, she got a yummy surprise .. juice!  Here's the video and a few fun pictures from today ... enjoy!

This is how Moab and Brianna spend a lot of time these days.  If she's playing on the floor,  he's most likely to be found close by, just watching her or snoozing.
And now, for the video ...

7 Months Old ... where'd the time go?

Brianna turned 7 months old on Friday, which seems so hard to believe.  Here's a few things that she's been doing lately...

She had her first big girl bath in the full size tub and she loved it!  She's much more stable at sitting up now and has pretty much outgrown her infant tub.  She's simply too long for it, much like everything else these days.

We also had visitors this weekend and Brianna wore herself out playing.  The Durhams spent this past Friday night with us and Bree was the center of attention.  Averi and Aspen were so sweet, giving her kisses and loving on her.  They sang her songs, read her stories and did all they could to get their Brianna fix.  Saturday, we went to the South Lakes park in Denton to play on the Eureka playground, which is extremely cool.  Roni  has several more pictures but here's a few that I snapped of all the kids playing, including a goofy one of Brianna and I going down the slide.  It was her first time in a baby swing and she seemed to really enjoy it.

Let's see, what else have we been up to.  She's still loving her jumparoo and has gotten much better at bouncing herself around in it.  She starts laughing as soon as we put her in it and the moment we let go, she's going to town.  Its nice for many reasons, but one of them is that it wears her out and ensures she takes a good two hour nap on the weekends!  She's still teething, but there's no sign that a tooth is going to emerge any time soon.  So far, we've just got lots of drool and chewing on anything she can get ahold of.
She's such a happy baby, in fact that's the most common compliment we hear from anyone that meets her.  She's always smiling, giggling and just generally content.  She's started making actual sounds and so far, her vocabulary consists of "guh", "ge", and "da".  I have a feeling her first word is going to be dada.  She already makes the sound, but hasn't started putting it together with Justin yet.  She's very close though.  We'll say "dada" and point to Justin and you can just see her little mind working to make the connection.
I hear her waking up from her nap so time to go feed her.  Love you all!
